London Luton Airport facts for kids
London Luton Airport (IATA: LTN, ICAO: EGGW) is a big international airport near the town of Luton, Bedfordshire, England. It's about 48 kilometers (30 miles) north of London. The airport used to be called Luton International Airport.
Luton Airport is easy to reach, being just 3 kilometers (2 miles) from junction 10a of the M1 motorway. It's one of the main airports serving the London area. In fact, it's the fourth largest after Heathrow, Gatwick, and Stansted. It's one of five international airports around London, including London City Airport.
In 2007, nearly 10 million passengers used London Luton Airport. This made it the fifth busiest airport in the UK at that time. The airport is a major base, or "hub," for airlines like easyJet, TUI, Wizz Air, and Ryanair. Most of the flights from Luton go to different places across Europe.
