Londonderry is a cool suburb located in Greater Western Sydney, in New South Wales, Australia. It's about 60 kilometers north-west of the main city center of Sydney. It's part of the City of Penrith area.

Londonderry's Past: A Quick Look
Londonderry got its name way back in 1831. That's when a man named Thomas Kendall received a large piece of land here. Later, in 1935, the first post office opened. A person named Robert Ernest Nutt ran it, along with a store. He even became the mayor of a nearby area called Castlereagh!

Londonderry has some special places that are "heritage-listed." This means they are important historical sites that need to be protected. One of these is at 947-953 Londonderry Road. It's home to amazing fossil and rock collections!

Where is Londonderry Located?
Londonderry is in the very northern part of the City of Penrith. A road called The Driftway forms its border with the Hawkesbury City Council area. The Northern Road separates Londonderry from Berkshire Park. To the south and west, you'll find Cranebrook and Agnes Banks. Londonderry is mostly a rural area, meaning it has lots of open land and farms. A lot of this land is still "crown land," which belongs to the government. Because Londonderry is closer to Richmond and further from Penrith, it has always had stronger connections with Richmond.
