Where is Lone Tree?
Lone Tree is located in the northern part of Douglas County. It is right next to Arapahoe County. The city is about 18 miles (29 km) south of downtown Denver.
In 2017, Lone Tree added the land where the University of Colorado South Denver campus used to be. This area was once home to The Wildlife Experience. The city covers a total area of about 9.6 square miles (24.8 square kilometers). All of this area is land.

Highways for Driving
Interstate 25 (I-25) goes right through the city. You can get on or off I-25 at four different exits:
- Exit 192 (RidgeGate Parkway)
- Exit 193 (Lincoln Avenue)
- Exit 194 (C-470)
- Exit 195 (County Line Road)
Colorado State Highway 470 (C-470) also crosses through Lone Tree. Besides the I-25 exit, you can also access Lone Tree from C-470 at Yosemite Street.
Public Transportation Options
The RTD Bus & Rail train system has two lines, the E Line and R Line, that stop in Lone Tree. There are five train stations in the city:
- County Line Station
- Lincoln Station
- Sky Ridge Medical Center Station
- Lone Tree City Center Station
- Ridgegate Parkway Station (This is the last stop for these train lines.)
The Lone Tree Link is a free bus service. It runs along Park Meadows Drive on weekdays. This bus connects to Lincoln Station and four other stops in the city.

Sky Ridge Medical Center is a hospital in Lone Tree. It has many different medical specialties. The hospital expanded a lot between 2013 and 2014. It is located near Yosemite Street.
For exercise, you can visit the Lone Tree Recreation Center. It has an indoor swimming pool and many gyms. You can also take different classes there.
Shopping and Entertainment
Lone Tree is home to Park Meadows, which is Colorado's biggest shopping mall. It has over 185 stores and restaurants. The mall looks like a mountain lodge. It is mostly indoors, but it also has an outdoor area called "The Vistas."
Outdoor Adventures
Lone Tree has a large golf course and hotel area. The city also has many trails for running and biking. These trails are great for both people who live there and visitors. The bluffs in the southern part of the city offer these trails, plus places for hiking.
Lone Tree is about 30 minutes away from Red Rocks. Red Rocks has more trails for hiking, biking, and running. It is also a famous outdoor concert venue. The city's location in the south Denver area means it's not far from Castle Rock, which has other fun activities.
