Long Point is a suburb of Sydney, located in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is about 46 kilometres south-west of the main part of Sydney. This area is part of the local government area known as the City of Campbelltown.

Long Point's Story

Long Point is located on a bend in the Georges River. For a long time, people called this area "Long Point," "Long Nose Point," or simply "The Point." It officially became known as Long Point in 1975.

The land was first given to a settler named Thomas Mills in the early 1800s. A few years later, it became part of a larger property called Campbellfields Estate, owned by William Redfern. Later, it was considered part of Macquarie Fields.

For many years, sand was dug up from the area. After the sand mining stopped, the paths that were used for the work were kept for the fire brigade. In the 1970s, the Campbelltown Council decided to protect the area, making it a Scenic Protection Area. This means its natural beauty is kept safe.
