Long View is a small town in the state of North Carolina, United States. It is located across two counties: Burke County and Catawba County. In 2020, about 5,088 people lived there. Long View is also part of a larger area called the Hickory–Lenoir–Morganton Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History of Long View
The town of Long View has an interesting past. It was first known by a different name: "Penelope." The town officially became "Long View" and was incorporated in 1907. This means it became an official town with its own local government.
Geography and Location
Long View is situated in the western part of Catawba County and the eastern part of Burke County. It shares its borders with several other places. To the north and east, you'll find the city of Hickory. To the west, it borders the town of Hildebran. South of Long View is the area known as Mountain View.
Major roads make it easy to travel to and from Long View. U.S. Route 70 goes right through the town. This road leads east into Hickory and west about 18 miles (29 km) to Morganton. Another important road, Interstate 40, crosses the southern part of Long View. You can get onto Interstate 40 from Exit 121.
The town covers a total area of about 4.0 square miles (10.2 km²). Most of this area is land. Only a tiny part, about 0.26%, is water.
