Brickellia longifolia, also known as the longleaf brickellbush, is a type of shrub. It belongs to the sunflower family, which is a very large group of flowering plants. You can find this plant growing in the southwestern United States. It lives in areas like the Colorado Plateau and Canyonlands region, including parts of Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and western Colorado.
Some scientists think that similar plants found in the Mojave Desert are just a different kind of B. longifolia. However, other scientists believe they are a completely separate species called Brickellia multiflora.

What Does It Look Like?
How It Grows
The longleaf brickellbush is a shrub that grows with many branches close together. It can reach a height of about 3 to 6 feet (around 1 to 2 meters).
Leaves and Stems
Its leaves are long and narrow. They do not have stalks and can be from 3/8 to 4 3/4 inches (about 1 to 12 centimeters) long. The leaves get narrower and come to a point at their tips.
Flowers and Blooming Time
Brickellia longifolia produces its flowers from June to September. The flowers are small and green. They grow in small groups of 3 to 5 flowers on each head. These heads are clustered together on a long stalk that grows from the top of each branch. This plant only has disk flowers, which are the small, tube-shaped flowers found in the center of a sunflower.
Where Does It Grow?
You can find the longleaf brickellbush in damp places. It often grows near natural springs or in riparian areas, which are places next to rivers or streams. It is found in southern Utah and can also be seen from California to Arizona.
