Lorenzo Fernando Lamas (born January 20, 1958) is an American actor and producer. He is famous for playing Lance Cumson in the TV show Falcon Crest (1981–1990). For this role, he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
Lamas is also well-known for his parts in other TV series. He played Reno Raines in Renegade (1992–1997). Kids might know him as Dr. Hollywood from the Nickelodeon show Big Time Rush (2009-2013). He was also Hector Ramirez in The Bold and the Beautiful (2004–2006). Plus, he voiced Meap in Phineas and Ferb. He even had his own reality show called Leave It to Lamas, which was about his family.

Early Life and Training
Lorenzo Lamas was born in Santa Monica, California. His dad, Fernando Lamas, was an actor from Argentina. His mom, Arlene Dahl, was an actress from Norway. When he was 11, his dad married Esther Williams, a famous swimmer and movie star. Both Esther Williams and Arlene Dahl were good friends with actress Jane Wyman. Jane Wyman later worked with Lorenzo on Falcon Crest.
Lorenzo grew up in Pacific Palisades, California. In 1971, he moved to New York City. He loved martial arts and started learning Taekwondo in 1979. He earned a third-degree black belt in Taekwondo. He also got black belts in Shotokan Karate, Ju jitsu, and Aikido. He finished school at the Admiral Farragut Academy in Pine Beach, New Jersey, in 1975.
Acting Career
Lorenzo wanted to be an actor since he was five years old. He started studying acting and got his first TV role in 1976.
First Roles
In 1978, Lorenzo had a small part in the musical movie Grease. He played a jock and even dyed his hair blond for the role! In the late 1970s and early 1980s, he appeared in many TV shows. These included Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, and Hotel.
Falcon Crest (1981–1990)
In 1980, Lorenzo got a big role in a new TV show called The Vintage Years. This show later became the very popular drama series Falcon Crest. It was on CBS for nine seasons, from 1981 to 1990. Lorenzo was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his acting in the show. He was the only actor who appeared in all 227 episodes!
While working on Falcon Crest, Lorenzo also starred in the movie Body Rock (1984). He even sang a song on the movie's soundtrack called "Fools Like Me." This song was his only one to make it onto the Billboard music chart.
Later TV Shows and Movies
After Falcon Crest, Lorenzo became known for playing action heroes. He used his martial arts skills in movies like the Snake Eater series (1989–1992).
From 1992 to 1997, Lorenzo played the main character, Reno Raines, in the TV series Renegade. In this show, he played a cop who was wrongly accused of a crime. He got to ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles and show off his martial arts moves. The show was watched in over 100 countries!
In 2004, Lorenzo joined the TV show The Bold and the Beautiful as Hector Ramirez. He stayed on the show until 2006. He also voiced the character Meap in the popular cartoon Phineas and Ferb and played Dr. Hollywood in Big Time Rush.
In 2015, Lorenzo was a contestant on the reality TV show Celebrity Apprentice.
Today, Lorenzo Lamas is also a helicopter pilot. He flies people on trips, like to the Grand Canyon from Los Angeles. He also works as a helicopter tour pilot in New York City.
Personal Life
Lorenzo Lamas has been married six times and has six children. His children include Alvaro Joshua "A.J." and Shayne, who are also actors.
He was married to his Renegade co-star Kathleen Kinmont from 1989 to 1993. Later, he married Shauna Sand in 1996, and they had three daughters before divorcing in 2002. His most recent marriage was to Kenna Scott in October 2023.
Lorenzo was good friends with his Falcon Crest co-star Jane Wyman. He often said she was a "huge influence" on his life and career. When Jane Wyman passed away in 2007, Lorenzo said she was one of the most important people in his early career.
His stepmother, Esther Williams, passed away in 2013. Lorenzo shared on Twitter that she was "The best swim teacher and soul mom."
In 2014, Lorenzo Lamas wrote a book about his life called Renegade at Heart.
