Lori Greiner grew up in Near North Side, Chicago. She went to Loyola University Chicago and studied communications. While she was in college, she worked for The Chicago Tribune newspaper. She also dreamed of becoming a playwright and sold jewelry to earn extra money. Lori Greiner is married to Dan Greiner.
Lori Greiner's Career
Starting Her Business
Lori Greiner is the president and founder of a company called For Your Ease Only. She started this company in 1996. In the same year, she created and got a patent for a special plastic organizer for earrings. A big store called J.C. Penney decided to sell her product before the holiday season. This success helped her pay back a large loan of $300,000 in just 18 months.
Inventing New Products
Besides jewelry storage, Lori has invented many other useful products. These include items for organizing makeup, travel, electronics, and things for the home. She has invented hundreds of products. She holds over 120 patents, which means she legally owns the rights to her inventions.
Becoming the "Queen of QVC"
After her success with J.C. Penney, Lori Greiner made her company bigger. Her products started appearing on the Home Shopping Network and in stores like Bed Bath & Beyond. In 2000, she began hosting her own show on QVC. It was called "Clever & Unique Creations by Lori Greiner." Because she appeared on the network so often, people started calling her "The Queen of QVC."
Investing on Shark Tank
In 2012, Lori Greiner joined the American TV show Shark Tank. On this show, entrepreneurs present their business ideas to a panel of investors, hoping to get money for their companies.
Successful Shark Tank Investments
In 2014, Lori invested in a company called Scrub Daddy. This company makes a special sponge that changes its texture. Her investment in Scrub Daddy became one of the biggest successes in Shark Tank history.
Lori Greiner has also invested in many other companies through Shark Tank. Some of her early investments include Bantam Bagels, Squatty Potty, ReadeRest, Paint Brush Cover, Hold Your Haunches, Drop Stop, FiberFix, Simply Fit Board, Sleep Styler, and Screenmend.
