Los Antiguos is a town in Santa Cruz Province, Argentina. It is located on the southern shore of a large lake called Lago Buenos Aires.
This town is very close to the border with Chile, only about 2 kilometers away. A Chilean town called Chile Chico is just 8 kilometers from Los Antiguos. A paved road connects Los Antiguos to other towns like Perito Moreno and Caleta Olivia on the Atlantic coast.
Los Antiguos is known as a special place for farming, like an "agricultural oasis." Small farms there grow lots of different fruits. The town was first started as a farming community in 1921. It officially became a municipality (a town with its own local government) in 1970.
In 1991, dust from the eruption of Mount Hudson covered the area. However, the town and its farms have fully recovered since then.
The name Los Antiguos means "The Elders" or "The Old Ones." This name comes from the Tehuelche language, where the original name was I-Keu-khon, meaning "Place of the Elders."
According to the 2010 census, about 3,363 people lived in Los Antiguos.
