Loudy Wiggins (born Loudy Tourky on July 7, 1979) is a famous Australian former diver. She was born in Haifa and moved to Australia when she was three years old.
Loudy started as a gymnast at the Australian Institute of Sport. When she was 12, her physiotherapist suggested she try diving. That's how her amazing diving journey began!

Loudy Wiggins' Diving Career
Early Olympic Journey
Loudy competed in her first Olympic Games when she was just 17. This was at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
At the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, she won a bronze medal. This was for the 10-meter synchronized platform event. She achieved this with her diving partner, Rebecca Gilmore. They were the first Australian women to win an Olympic diving medal. Loudy was also the first Australian to win an Olympic diving medal since 1924.
World Championships and Commonwealth Games
In 2001, Loudy won a bronze medal at the 2001 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka. She had a very successful year on the Diving Grand Prix circuit. Because of her strong performances, she was named Female Australian Diver of the Year. Loudy was known for being a very powerful platform diver.
She won many national championships in both springboard and platform diving. In 2002, she won a gold medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. This was for the 10-meter platform event.
In 2003, she won first place at three FINA Diving Grand Prix competitions. She brought home six gold medals that year. Loudy finished 2003 with a silver medal at the 2003 World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona. This was for the 10-meter synchronized diving event.
More Olympic and World Success
In 2004, Loudy finished second in the 10-meter platform event at the Diving World Cup in Athens. Later that year, she won a bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. This was also in the 10-meter event.
The next year, in 2005, she won two silver medals. These were at the FINA World Aquatics Championships in Montreal. She earned them in both the 10-meter and 10-meter synchronized events.
Loudy continued her success at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. She won two gold medals there. These were for the 10-meter and 10-meter synchronized diving events.
Comeback and Later Career
Loudy planned to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. However, a calf injury during the Olympic trials stopped her from competing.
After getting married and having her first child, Loudy decided to make a comeback. She placed 14th at an Olympic Test Event in London.
Back in Australia, she teamed up with Rachel Bugg. Even with limited practice, they won against other strong divers. Loudy competed in her fourth Olympic Games at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. At 33 years old, she was the oldest diver in the competition.
Loudy has a degree in media and communications from the University of Sydney. She also served on the Australian Olympic Committee Athletes' Commission. From 2012 to 2016, she was on the Board of Directors for Diving Victoria.
Personal Life
Loudy Wiggins is married to Simon Wiggins. He used to play Australian rules football for the Carlton Football Club. They have a daughter, who was born in 2010. They also have a son, who was born in 2013.
