History of Love Valley
Love Valley is a unique town. It is found in a quiet valley in the Brushy Mountains. A man named Andy Barker started the town in 1954. He had two big dreams. First, he wanted to create a Christian community. Second, he wanted to live like a cowboy. So, he combined these ideas. He built an Old West-style village in the hills. The town officially became a town on April 2, 1963.
Love Valley looks like towns from old Western movies. It has a saloon, a general store, and places to tie up horses. Cars are not allowed inside the town! People still use horses and horse-drawn vehicles to get around. A small church sits on a hill. This shows Barker's idea of a peaceful Christian place.
The town had some interesting times in the 1960s and 1970s. There was a "Love Valley Rock Festival." Some local people felt it brought different kinds of visitors to the area. But now, Love Valley is much calmer. It is a popular place for people who love horses. There are many trails for horseback riding in the surrounding mountains.
