Lovell Pinkney (born August 18, 1972) is an American who used to play professional American football. He played as a tight end, wide receiver, and linebacker.
He was a top player in college for the University of Texas. Later, he was chosen by the St. Louis Rams in the National Football League (NFL) draft. He played for the Rams for two seasons. He also spent time with the Green Bay Packers and the Grand Rapids Rampage in the Arena Football League (AFL).

Early Life and High School Football
Lovell Pinkney grew up in Washington, D.C.. He went to Anacostia High School. He was a very talented football player there.
In 1991, he helped his team win the DCIAA East title. This was a big achievement for his high school team.
By the end of his high school career, Lovell was recognized as one of the best players. He was named to the Washington Post All-Met football team. He was also chosen as the Washington, D.C. player of the year. Plus, he was a Parade All-American, which means he was one of the best high school players in the whole country.
Many top colleges wanted him to play for them. He chose to go to the University of Texas.
College Career at Texas
Lovell Pinkney played college football for the Texas Longhorns from 1992 to 1994. He was a key player for their team.
During his time there, he scored 15 receiving touchdowns. This was a school record at the time.
Freshman Year Highlights
In his first year, he had a great game against Syracuse. He gained 140 receiving yards in that game. This was a record for a freshman at Texas. He also had a 73-yard catch, which was another freshman record.
He scored 3 touchdown receptions that year. This was also a record for a freshman at the time. He and another freshman, Mike Adams, combined for 729 receiving yards. This was a record for two freshmen playing together.
Sophomore Year Success
In his second year, Lovell was named a first-team All-Southwest Conference player. This means he was one of the best players in his college league.
He had three more games where he gained over 100 receiving yards. His best game was against SMU, where he gained 150 yards. In that game, he caught a 61-yard pass from quarterback Shea Morenz.
Junior Year and Bowl Game
In his junior year, Lovell was named to the All-SWC second-team. He helped the Longhorns become Conference Co-Champions. They also won the 1994 Sun Bowl game.
After his junior year, he decided to leave college early. He chose to enter the NFL draft.

Time with the St. Louis Rams
The St. Louis Rams picked Lovell in the fourth round of the 1995 NFL draft. He was the 115th player chosen overall. The Rams changed his position to tight end.
He played in eight games for the Rams in 1995. He was released by the team before the 1996 season.
Short Stint with the Green Bay Packers
During the 1996 playoffs, the Green Bay Packers signed him. However, he did not play in any games for them. He left the Packers during their training camp in 1997.
Arena Football League
In 1998, Lovell played one season for the Grand Rapids Rampage. This team was part of the Arena Football League (AFL). In the AFL, he played as both a wide receiver and a linebacker.
