Lucia Bosè (born January 28, 1931 – died March 23, 2020) was a famous Italian actress. She starred in many movies, especially during the 1950s and later in her life.

Early Life and Career Start

Lucia Bosè was born in Milan, Italy. Before becoming an actress, she worked in a bakery. In 1947, when she was just 16, she won the Miss Italia beauty contest. This win helped her start her acting career.

In 1950, Lucia made her first big movie appearance in No Peace Under the Olive Tree. The same year, she also starred in Story of a Love Affair, directed by Michelangelo Antonioni. She worked with Antonioni again in 1953, playing Clara Manni in The Lady Without Camelias. She also appeared in the Spanish film Death of a Cyclist (1955) and Gli Sbandati (1955).

Marriage and Family Life

Lucia Bosè's acting career was going very well until 1955. That year, she met and fell in love with Luis Miguel Dominguín, a famous Spanish bullfighter. They met while filming Death of a Cyclist. Lucia decided to stop acting to marry him and start a family.

They got married twice in 1955. Their first child, Miguel Bosé, was born in 1956. He later became a well-known singer. They had two more daughters, Lucia (born 1957) and Paola (born 1960). Lucia and Luis were married until 1968.

Return to Acting

After her marriage ended, Lucia Bosè returned to acting full-time. She appeared in many films, both in Italy and Spain.

Some of her notable movies from this period include:

  • Fellini Satyricon (1969), directed by Federico Fellini.
  • Under the Sign of Scorpio (1969) by the Taviani Brothers.
  • Something Creeping in The Dark (1971).
