Who Was Luo Guanzhong?
People are not completely sure where or when Luo Guanzhong was born. One idea is that he was from Taiyuan. He might have lived during the end of the Yuan dynasty and the start of the Ming dynasty. A writer named Jia Zhongming said he met Luo Guanzhong in 1364.
Another idea is that he was born in Dongyuan, in the province of Shandong. This might have been around 1280 to 1360. Some historians also think he could have been from Hangzhou or Jiangnan.
Where Was He From?
Some researchers believe Luo Guanzhong was part of the Luo family from Taiyuan. However, his name is not in their family records. This makes some people doubt if he was really from Taiyuan. They wonder why he wrote so much about people in Shandong if he was from Taiyuan.
Recent studies suggest he might have been born between 1315 and 1318. Other sources say it was closer to 1330. It's a bit of a mystery!
What Did Luo Guanzhong Write?

Other Stories He Wrote
Luo Guanzhong is also credited with The Three Sui Quash the Demons' Revolt. This is a fantasy story with 20 chapters. It's based on tales about a rebellion at the end of the Northern Song dynasty. Later, another writer, Feng Menglong, made it longer, into 40 chapters.
Another work is Can Tang Wudai Shi Yanzhuan. This book tells the history of the end of the Tang dynasty and the time that followed, called the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. It's a collection of stories about a rebellion led by Zhu Wen.
