Maccabi Akhi Nazareth Football Club is a soccer team from Nazareth, Israel. Its full name is Mo'adon Kaduregel Makabi Aḥi Natzrat in Hebrew and Nādī Kurat al-Qadam Makābī ’Aḫā’ an-Nāṣira in Arabic.

The team is often called "The Green Nazarenes" because of their green and white colors. They play their home games at the Ilut Stadium in Ilut, which is just outside Nazareth.

Club History

Maccabi Akhi Nazareth was started in 1968. For many years, they played in the lower divisions of Israeli football. They worked hard to climb up the leagues.

Climbing the Ranks

In 1998, the team moved up to Liga Artzit. This was the second-highest league in Israel at the time. They kept improving and in the 2002–03 season, they won the Liga Leumit title. This was a huge achievement for the club.

Winning the Liga Leumit meant they were promoted to the Israeli Premier League. This is the top football league in Israel. It was the first time in their history they reached the highest level. Another Arab club, Bnei Sakhnin, was also promoted that year. This was special because it was the first time two Arab clubs played in the top division together.

Ups and Downs

Their first season in the top league (2003–04) was tough. The team finished last and went back down to Liga Leumit. The next season, they were relegated again, falling back to the third division.

But they didn't give up! In the 2005–06 season, they finished second in Liga Artzit. This meant they were promoted straight back to Liga Leumit.

In the 2008–09 season, Maccabi Akhi Nazareth earned promotion to the Israeli Premier League once more. However, they had another difficult season in the top league. They finished last and were relegated back to Liga Leumit for the 2010–11 season.

Cup Success

In the 2014–15 season, the club made history in the Israel State Cup. They reached the Semi-finals for the very first time. They beat strong teams like Maccabi Netanya and FC Ashdod along the way.

In the Semi-finals, they played against Maccabi Tel Aviv. Even though they lost 0–3, reaching the Semi-finals was a big moment for the club and its fans.
