Mack Brown (born September 24, 1991) is a former American football player. He was a running back, which is a player who primarily runs with the ball. Mack played college football for the Florida Gators. After college, he joined the Houston Texans in 2015. He also played for the Minnesota Vikings.

Early Life and High School

Mack Brown grew up in Lithonia, Georgia. He played high school football at Martin Luther King Jr. High School. This is where he first showed his skills on the football field.

College Football Journey

Mack played college football at the University of Florida. He was a Florida Gator from 2010 to 2014. During his time there, he played in 49 games. He started in two of those games.

In 2010, he played in two games. He ran the ball three times for 23 yards. The next year, in 2011, he played in four games. He had 12 carries for 42 yards. In 2012, he played in nine games. He ran the ball 25 times for 102 yards.

His role grew bigger in the 2013 season. In the first game against Toledo, he had a great performance. He ran the ball 25 times for 112 yards. He also scored two touchdowns in that game. For the whole 2013 season, he played in 12 games. He ran for 548 yards on 148 carries. He scored four touchdowns that year.

In his last college season in 2014, he played in seven games. He had 22 carries for 95 yards. Overall, during his college career, Mack ran for 805 yards. Starting with the Texans

After college, Mack Brown tried out for the Houston Texans. He signed with them on May 11, 2015. However, he was released by the Texans on June 2, 2015.

Time with the Washington Redskins

On July 25, 2015, Mack joined the Washington Redskins. He was released on September 5, 2015. But he was later re-signed to their practice squad. A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team but are not on the main roster. He was released again in November but rejoined the practice squad in December. In January 2016, he signed a futures contract with the Redskins. This meant he would be with the team for the next season.

In the 2016 preseason, Mack had an amazing performance. He led the entire league in rushing yards with 227 yards. In the last preseason game, he ran for 149 yards. This included a long 60-yard touchdown run. Even with his strong preseason, he was released by the Redskins on September 3, 2016. But he was signed to the practice squad the very next day.

He was moved to the main team roster on October 28, 2016. Before this, he had only played on special teams. In a game against the Chicago Bears, he finally got to run the ball as a running back. He gained 82 yards on eight carries. This included an exciting 61-yard touchdown run. This was his first touchdown in a professional game!

On October 28, 2017, the Redskins released Mack again. He had played in three games that regular season.

Playing for the Minnesota Vikings

Two days later, on October 30, 2017, the Minnesota Vikings picked up Mack Brown. He played in one game for the Vikings in 2017. For the whole 2017 season, combining his time with both the Redskins and Vikings, he had 29 rushing yards on eight carries. He also caught one pass for 11 yards.

On September 1, 2018, the Vikings released Mack due to an injury. He was placed on injured reserve. He was then fully released on September 7, 2018.

Back with the Redskins

On October 2, 2018, Mack Brown returned to the Washington Redskins. He was signed to their practice squad again. However, he was released from the practice squad on November 13, 2018.

With the Oakland Raiders

On August 3, 2019, Mack signed with the Oakland Raiders. He was released during the final roster cuts on August 30, 2019.

Playing in the XFL

Mack Brown then signed with the Tampa Bay Vipers. This team was part of the XFL, another professional football league. He joined them on January 9, 2020. He was released by the Vipers on February 18, 2020.
