"Magic" is a famous song from 1974 by the Scottish pop rock band Pilot. It was their very first hit song. David Paton, a member of the band, wrote "Magic" for their first album, From the Album of the Same Name.
This song became very popular around the world. It was a huge success in Canada, reaching number one on the RPM national singles chart in July 1975. It even earned a gold award there! In the UK Singles Chart, "Magic" reached number 11. It also hit number five on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in the summer of 1975.
David Paton shared what inspired him to write the song. He said it was inspired by watching the sunrise from Blackford Hill in Edinburgh, Scotland. He also mentioned that his wife had told him she had "never seen a daybreak," which also helped him create the song.
