On August 5, 2013, the Celtic Woman website announced that Chloë Agnew would take a break from the group. On August 23, 2013, it was announced that Mairéad Carlin would join Celtic Woman in Chloë's place.
On January 13, 2021, Mairéad announced she was taking a break from the group. She wanted to work on other projects. However, in 2023, she shared that she would return to Celtic Woman. She joined them for their Christmas 2023 tour and their 20th anniversary special shows.
