Maja Gojković (Маја Гојковић; born on May 22, 1963) is a Serbian politician. She has been the president of the Government of Vojvodina since May 2024. She is a member of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).
Before her current role, she held several important positions. She was the President of the National Assembly of Serbia from 2014 to 2020. From 2020 to 2024, she served as Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and Minister of Culture and Information. Earlier in her career, she was the mayor of Novi Sad from 2004 to 2008. She also served as a minister in the government of Yugoslavia in the late 1990s.

Education and Early Career
Maja Gojković went to Branko Radičević elementary school. She then attended the Gymnasium Jovan Jovanović Zmaj. She studied law at the University of Novi Sad Faculty of Law and graduated in 1987. In 1989, she passed her bar exam, which means she was qualified to work as a lawyer. A year later, she started working in her family's law firm.
Political Journey
Maja Gojković was one of the people who helped start the Serbian Radical Party. She held various leadership roles within the party, including secretary general and vice president.
She became a representative in the parliament of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1992. From 1996 to 2000, she was a member of the Vojvodina parliament. She served as a minister without a specific department in the Serbian Government from 1998 to 1999. She was also the vice chairman of the federal government of FR Yugoslavia in 1999.
Before becoming mayor of Novi Sad, she was a member of the federal parliament of Serbia and Montenegro. She was the vice president of the Serbian Radical Party until 2006.
Mayor of Novi Sad
In the 2004 local election in Serbia, Maja Gojković was elected Mayor of Novi Sad. She was the first woman to hold this position in the city's history. She won the election by popular vote, meaning citizens directly voted for her. She served as mayor until 2008.
Forming a New Party
In 2008, after leaving the Serbian Radical Party, she started her own political party called the People's Party. This party later joined the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) in 2012, which is the current ruling party in Serbia.
Leading the National Assembly
On April 23, 2014, Maja Gojković was elected President of the National Assembly of Serbia. This is a very important role, as she was in charge of leading the meetings of the Serbian parliament. She held this position until August 2020. During her time as president, she was known for how she managed parliamentary discussions.
Recent Roles
From October 2020 to May 2024, Maja Gojković served as Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia. At the same time, she was also the Minister of Culture and Information. In these roles, she helped lead the government and was responsible for cultural policies.
Since May 2024, she has been the president of the Government of Vojvodina. This means she leads the government of the autonomous province of Vojvodina in northern Serbia.
Health
In June 2020, Maja Gojković was hospitalized after getting COVID-19. She recovered and continued her political work.
