Malcolm Jenkins (born December 20, 1987) is a former American football player. He played the safety position for 13 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). A safety is a defensive player who helps prevent the other team from scoring long touchdowns.

Jenkins played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was so good that he was named a consensus All-American, which means most experts agreed he was one of the best players in the country. He also won the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back.

In the 2009 NFL draft, he was chosen by the New Orleans Saints. He later played for the Philadelphia Eagles before returning to the Saints to finish his career. Jenkins retired from football in 2022.

Early Life and High School

Jenkins grew up in Piscataway, New Jersey. He was a star athlete at Piscataway Township High School, where he played both wide receiver on offense and defensive back on defense. He helped his team win three state championships in a row.

Besides football, Jenkins was also a talented track athlete. As a junior, he won the state championship in the 400 metres race.

College Career at Ohio State

Jenkins played for the Ohio State from 2005 to 2008. As a freshman, he played a special defensive role called the nickelback. He quickly became a key player for the team.

By his second year, he was a starting cornerback and was named to the first-team All-Big Ten. He earned this honor for three straight years. In his final year, he won the Jim Thorpe Award, given to the best defensive back in all of college football.

While in college, Jenkins joined the Omega Psi Phi fraternity, a social and service organization.
