Jarvis Charles Landry (born November 28, 1992) is an American professional football player. He is a talented wide receiver. Jarvis played college football for the LSU Tigers. The Miami Dolphins picked him in the 2014 NFL draft. He became famous for catching many passes. Landry was chosen for the Pro Bowl five times. He led the entire league in catches in 2017. He holds the record for most catches by a player in their first six NFL seasons.

Early Life and High School Football

Jarvis Landry grew up in Lutcher, Louisiana. He went to Lutcher High School. There, he was a great athlete in three sports: football, basketball, and track.

In his senior year of high school, Jarvis caught 51 passes for 716 yards. He also scored 11 touchdowns. By the end of high school, he had an amazing 241 catches. He gained 3,902 yards and scored 50 touchdowns. He also ran for 875 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Jarvis was considered one of the best high school football players. Experts called him a "five-star recruit." He was ranked as the fourth-best wide receiver in the country. He even set a record at the 2011 Under Armour All-America Game. He caught eight passes for 70 yards and a touchdown.

College Football Career

Jarvis Landry played college football at LSU from 2011 to 2013. He played for coach Les Miles. As a freshman in 2011, he played in 14 games. He caught four passes for 43 yards.

In 2012, his sophomore year, he played in 13 games. He led his team with 56 catches and five touchdowns. He was also second in receiving yards with 573.

His junior year in 2013 was outstanding. He and teammate Odell Beckham Jr. became a very strong wide receiver team. Jarvis caught 77 passes for 1,193 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was named a second-team All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) player. After this great season, he decided to enter the 2014 NFL draft early.

Professional Football Career

Joining the Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins picked Jarvis Landry in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft. He was the 63rd player chosen overall. He was the 12th wide receiver picked that year.

As a rookie in 2014, Landry quickly made an impact. He caught his first professional touchdown in a game against the Green Bay Packers. He finished his first season with 758 receiving yards and five touchdowns. His 84 catches set a new record for most receptions by a Dolphins rookie. He also gained many yards returning punts and kickoffs. He was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

In 2015, Landry continued to shine. He scored his first return touchdown against the Washington Redskins. He returned a punt 69 yards. He also made an amazing one-handed catch against the Indianapolis Colts. Jarvis became the first Dolphins player to have over 100 catches and 1,000 receiving yards in one season. He broke the team record for most catches in a season with 110. He was named a Dolphins Co-MVP. He also made his first Pro Bowl.

The 2016 season was another strong one for Landry. He caught 94 passes for 1,136 yards and four touchdowns. This was his second time gaining over 1,000 yards in a season. He helped the Dolphins reach the playoffs for the first time since 2008. In his first playoff game, he caught 11 passes for 102 yards. He was chosen for his second Pro Bowl.

In 2017, Landry had a new quarterback, Jay Cutler. In Week 2, he tied his career high with 13 catches against the Los Angeles Chargers. He also set an NFL record for most catches in a player's first four seasons. He finished the season leading the NFL with 112 catches. He also had 987 yards and nine touchdowns. He earned his third straight Pro Bowl nomination. At the Pro Bowl, he won a skills competition for "Best hands."

Moving to the Cleveland Browns

In March 2018, the Dolphins traded Jarvis Landry to the Cleveland Browns. He signed a five-year contract with the Browns. He changed his jersey number back to #80, which he wore in college.

In his first season with the Browns in 2018, Landry had four games with over 100 receiving yards. He also set a new NFL record for most catches in a player's first five seasons. He led the Browns with 81 catches for 976 yards and four touchdowns. He was selected for his fourth straight Pro Bowl.

In 2019, Landry continued to excel. In Week 4, he caught eight passes for 167 yards against the Baltimore Ravens. In Week 11, he broke another record. He had his 529th catch, which was the most by any NFL player in their first six seasons. Against his old team, the Miami Dolphins, he had 10 catches for 148 yards and two touchdowns. He finished the 2019 season with a career-high 1,174 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He earned his fifth straight Pro Bowl selection.

In 2020, Landry had hip surgery before the season. He still played well. In Week 4, he even threw a 37-yard pass for his first career passing touchdown. He missed his first game in Week 16 due to COVID-19 rules. In the playoffs, he helped the Browns win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He caught five passes for 92 yards and a touchdown. He also scored a touchdown in the next playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs. In 2020, Landry had 72 catches for 840 yards. He scored five receiving touchdowns, one rushing touchdown, and one passing touchdown.

In 2021, Landry started the season with a rushing touchdown against the Chiefs. However, he suffered a knee injury in Week 2 and was placed on injured reserve. He returned later in the season. He finished 2021 with 52 catches for 570 yards and two receiving touchdowns. He also had two rushing touchdowns. On March 14, 2022, the Browns released Landry.

Playing for the New Orleans Saints

On May 13, 2022, Jarvis Landry signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints. He started strong with seven catches for 114 yards in a win against the Atlanta Falcons. Later in the season, he was placed on injured reserve due to an ankle injury. He finished his season with the Saints with 25 catches for 272 yards and one touchdown in nine games.
