Jarvis Charles Landry (born November 28, 1992) is an American former professional football player. He was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons.

Landry played college football for the LSU Tigers. The Miami Dolphins picked him in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft. He was chosen for the Pro Bowl five times during his career. He played for the Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, and New Orleans Saints. In 2017, he led the entire league in receptions with 112 catches. He holds the NFL record for most receptions by a player in their first six seasons.

Early Life and High School Football

Jarvis Landry grew up in Lutcher, Louisiana. He went to Lutcher High School. There, he was a talented athlete in three sports: football, basketball, and track.

In his senior year of high school, he caught 51 passes for 716 yards. He also scored 11 touchdowns. By the end of his high school career, he had an amazing 241 catches. He gained 3,902 receiving yards and scored 50 touchdowns. He also ran for 875 yards and 14 touchdowns. Experts considered him one of the best wide receivers in the country.

College Football Career

Landry played college football at LSU from 2011 to 2013. As a freshman in 2011, he played in 14 games. He had 4 catches for 43 yards.

In 2012, his sophomore year, he played in 13 games. He led his team with 56 catches and 5 touchdowns. He was second in receiving yards with 573.

During his junior year in 2013, he teamed up with Odell Beckham Jr.. They became one of the best wide receiver duos in college football. Landry was named a second-team All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) player. He finished his junior season with 77 catches for 1,193 yards and 10 touchdowns. After this great season, he decided to enter the NFL draft early.

The Miami Dolphins drafted Jarvis Landry in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He was the 63rd player picked overall. He was the 12th wide receiver chosen that year.

2014 Season: Rookie Success

As a rookie, Landry quickly made an impact. He caught his first professional touchdown in Week 6 against the Green Bay Packers. He finished his first season with 758 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns. His 84 catches set a new Dolphins record for most receptions by a rookie. He also gained 1,158 yards returning punts and kickoffs. He was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

2015 Season: Pro Bowl and Records

In the first game of the 2015 season, Landry scored his first return touchdown. He returned a punt 69 yards against the Washington Redskins. On December 27, 2015, he made an amazing one-handed catch against the Indianapolis Colts.

Landry became the first Dolphins player to have over 100 catches and 1,000 receiving yards in a single season. He broke the team record for most receptions in a season with 110. He was named the Dolphins Co-MVP. He was also selected for the 2016 Pro Bowl. His 110 receptions ranked fourth in the NFL for 2015. He was ranked 98th among the top 100 NFL players by his fellow players.

2016 Season: Another 1,000-Yard Year

Landry had another strong season in 2016. He caught 94 passes for 1,136 yards and 4 touchdowns. This was his second time gaining over 1,000 receiving yards in a season. He helped the Dolphins reach the playoffs for the first time since 2008.

In his playoff debut, he had 11 catches for 102 yards. The Dolphins lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Landry was named to his second Pro Bowl. He was ranked 42nd by his peers on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2017.

2017 Season: Leading the League in Catches

In 2017, Landry played with a new quarterback, Jay Cutler. In Week 2, he tied his career high with 13 catches against the Los Angeles Chargers. This was the most catches in a single game in the 2017 season.

In Week 9, Landry set an NFL record for most receptions in a player's first four seasons. He finished the 2017 season with 112 receptions, which was the most in the entire NFL. He also had 987 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns. He earned his third straight Pro Bowl nomination. At the Pro Bowl, he won a skills competition for "Best Hands." He was ranked 52nd by his peers.

2018 Season: New Team, Same Success

In March 2018, the Dolphins traded Landry to the Cleveland Browns. He signed a five-year contract extension with the Browns. He changed his jersey number back to #80, which he wore in college.

In his first season with Cleveland, Landry led the team with 81 catches for 976 yards and 4 touchdowns. He had four games with over 100 receiving yards. On October 7, 2018, he passed Larry Fitzgerald for the most receptions in a player's first five NFL seasons. He was selected for his fourth straight Pro Bowl. He was ranked 84th among the top 100 NFL players.

2019 Season: Career High in Yards

In Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens, Landry caught 8 passes for 167 yards. In Week 11, he broke DeAndre Hopkins' record for most catches in an NFL player's first six seasons. In Week 12, he played against his former team, the Miami Dolphins. He had 10 catches for 148 yards and 2 touchdowns.

He finished the 2019 season with 83 catches and a career-high 1,174 receiving yards. He also scored 6 receiving touchdowns. He earned his fifth straight Pro Bowl selection. He was ranked 61st among the top 100 NFL players.

2020 Season: Playoff Touchdowns

In February 2020, Landry had hip surgery for an injury that bothered him in 2019. He recovered and was ready for the season.

In Week 4 against the Cowboys, Landry completed his first career passing touchdown. He threw a 37-yard pass to Odell Beckham Jr.. In Week 12, he had 8 catches for 143 yards and a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He missed his first game in Week 16 due to COVID-19 contact.

In the playoffs, Landry was a key player. In the Wild Card Round against the Steelers, he had 5 catches for 92 yards and a touchdown. In the Divisional Round against the Kansas City Chiefs, he had 7 catches for 20 yards and a touchdown.

For the 2020 season, Landry had 72 catches for 840 receiving yards and 5 receiving touchdowns. He also rushed for a touchdown and threw a touchdown pass. He was ranked 94th among the top 100 NFL players.

2021 Season: Injuries and Release

In Week 1 against the Chiefs, Landry had 5 catches for 71 yards and a rushing touchdown. In Week 2, he suffered a knee sprain and was placed on injured reserve. He returned to play in October.

He finished the 2021 season with 52 catches for 570 receiving yards and 2 receiving touchdowns. He also had 2 rushing touchdowns. On March 14, 2022, the Browns released Landry.

New Orleans Saints

Landry signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints on May 13, 2022. He started the season strong with 7 catches for 114 yards in a win against the Atlanta Falcons. On December 22, 2022, the Saints placed Landry on injured reserve due to an ankle injury, ending his season. He finished the 2022 season with 25 catches for 272 yards and 1 touchdown in 9 games.

Personal Life

Jarvis Landry's older brother, Gerard, also played wide receiver at Southern University. Landry is also a cousin of former LSU football star Glenn Dorsey.

Landry is best friends with Odell Beckham Jr.. They were teammates at LSU and later with the Cleveland Browns. In March 2021, Landry announced a partnership with Air Jordan.
