Glenn Jamon Dorsey (born August 1, 1985) is a former American football player. He was a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL). Glenn played college football for the LSU Tigers. He was recognized as one of the best college defensive players in 2007. The Kansas City Chiefs chose him as the fifth overall pick in the 2008 NFL draft. He also played for the San Francisco 49ers.

Early Life and High School Football
Glenn Dorsey grew up in Gonzales, Louisiana. He went to East Ascension High School in Gonzales. There, he was known as one of the best defensive linemen in the country. He was also one of the top three football players in Louisiana.
Glenn was named Louisiana’s 4A Defensive Player of the Year. He was also a first-team 4A all-state player. In his junior year, he made over 100 tackles and 12 sacks. As a senior, he had 43 tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble. He missed three games that year due to an ankle injury.
College Football Career

Glenn Dorsey played college football at Louisiana State University (LSU). He played for the LSU Tigers football teams from 2004 to 2007. His coaches were Nick Saban and Les Miles.
Freshman and Sophomore Years
In 2004, as a freshman, Glenn started in 3 of 12 games. He recovered a fumble on his very first play against Oregon State. He finished the year with 18 tackles. In 2005, he started in 1 of 13 games. He was part of a four-player group of defensive tackles for LSU. He ended that season with 28 tackles and 3 sacks.
Standout Seasons: 2006 and 2007
In 2006, Glenn was named to the All-American team. He was also chosen for the All-SEC team. He had 64 tackles, including 8.5 tackles for losses and three sacks. He was named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week twice.
The 2007 season was amazing for Glenn. He started 13 of 14 games. He recorded 69 tackles, 7 sacks, and 12.5 tackles for loss. He also defended three passes and forced a fumble. He was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week twice again.
After the 2007 season, he was recognized as a unanimous first-team All-American. He also finished ninth in the voting for the Heisman Trophy. This was more votes than any other defensive player received that year.
Major Awards and Championships
Glenn Dorsey won several big awards in 2007. These included the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, the Outland Trophy, the Lott Trophy, and the Lombardi Award. He is the only player to ever win all four of these awards.
Glenn was a key player for LSU's 2007 team that won the BCS National Championship. He helped LSU win the national title even though he played with knee and tailbone injuries.

Professional Football Career
Kansas City Chiefs (2008–2012)
The Kansas City Chiefs picked Glenn Dorsey in the first round of the 2008 NFL draft. He was the fifth player chosen overall. On July 26, 2008, he signed a five-year contract with the Chiefs.
On November 8, he got his first career sack against San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers. He finished his first season with 46 tackles and one sack.
When the Chiefs changed their defense, Glenn moved to play defensive end. In 2009, he started 14 of 15 games and had 54 tackles and one sack. In 2010, he started all 16 games and made 69 tackles and two sacks. In 2011, he had 62 tackles but no sacks.
San Francisco 49ers (2013–2016)
On March 13, 2013, Glenn Dorsey signed a two-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers. He was expected to be a backup player. However, the starting nose tackle, Ian Williams, got injured. So, Glenn took over the starting job in the second week of the season.
Glenn signed another two-year contract with the 49ers on August 19, 2014. Sadly, he missed the entire 2014 season because of a torn biceps injury. On November 25, 2015, he was placed on the injured reserve list with a torn ACL. In his last season, 2016, he played in 12 games and started seven. He finished with one sack and 24 total tackles.
Activism
Glenn Dorsey has also worked with PETA. He filmed a campaign to promote the proper treatment of dogs.
