The Mall at Barnes Crossing is a large shopping center located northeast of downtown Tupelo, Mississippi. It's known as a "super regional" mall because it's very big and serves a wide area. This mall is a popular spot for shopping, eating, and entertainment.
It has more than 90 different stores and shops. You can also find 5 main "anchor stores" here. These are usually big department stores that attract many shoppers. The mall also has an 8-screen Cinemark movie theater and a large food court with 600 seats. Some of the main stores include two Belk locations, JCPenney, Barnes & Noble, and Dick's Sporting Goods. One anchor store space is currently empty, which used to be Sears.

Mall History
Opening and Early Years
The Mall at Barnes Crossing first opened its doors on March 7, 1990. It was the third shopping mall to be built in the Tupelo area. When it first opened, its main anchor stores were Kmart, Belk, McRae's, JCPenney, and Sears.
Changes Over Time
In 1996, the Kmart store closed down. McRae's then bought that space. They moved their men's clothing and home items into the old Kmart building. Their original store kept women's and children's clothing, plus cosmetics.
Later, the Belk store closed and became a different department store called Parisian. But in 2005, Belk returned to the mall. They bought both of the McRae's locations.
In 2007, Belk also bought the Parisian chain of stores. Because of this, the former Parisian store at the mall closed. In 2008, that space became Dick's Sporting Goods.
Also in 2008, Barnes & Noble opened a new store. This added another 10,000 sq ft (930 m2) to the mall's size. This made the mall officially 821,000 sq ft (76,300 m2) big. Other stores like Coldwater Creek and Jos. A. Bank also joined the mall around this time. The southwest entrance of the mall was also updated. It became home to ULTA Beauty and D'Casa Mexican Restaurant. In 2013, CHICO's and Francesca Collection also opened their stores.
In November 2018, it was announced that the Sears store at the mall would close. This was part of a plan to close many Sears stores across the country. The Sears store at Barnes Crossing closed in February 2019.
Nearby Shopping Areas
Besides the main mall, there are other shopping centers close by. These are also managed by David Hocker & Associates.
Market Center
To the west of the mall, you'll find an outdoor shopping area called Market Center. It's located between two main entrances to the mall. This center has stores like Old Navy and Shoe Carnival.
Barnes Crossing Plaza
North of the mall is another outdoor shopping area called Barnes Crossing Plaza. Here, you can find stores such as OfficeMax, TJMaxx, Hobby Lobby, and Ollie's Bargain Outlet.
