Manuel "Manolo" Jiménez Jiménez (born on January 26, 1964) is a Spanish former professional footballer. He played as a left-back. Today, he is a manager for Cypriot First Division club APOEL.
Manolo Jiménez spent most of his playing and coaching career with Sevilla. He played only in La Liga, Spain's top football league, with Sevilla. He also played for the Spanish national team in the 1990 FIFA World Cup.
As a coach, Jiménez has managed AEK Athens in Greece four different times. He has also worked with teams in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

Manolo Jiménez's Playing Career
Manolo Jiménez was born in Arahal, a town in Spain. He started playing for Sevilla in the 1983–84 season. He played 413 games for his hometown club over 14 seasons. He retired from playing in June 1998 at age 34. Before retiring, he spent one year with Real Jaén in the Segunda División, which is Spain's second division.
Jiménez played 15 games for the Spanish national team. His first international game was in October 1988 against Argentina. He was chosen to play in the 1990 FIFA World Cup. He played in games against Uruguay and Yugoslavia during that tournament.
Manolo Jiménez's Coaching Journey
Coaching Sevilla FC
Manolo Jiménez coached Sevilla's reserve team, Sevilla Atlético, for seven seasons. He helped them get promoted to the second division in 2006–07. In October 2007, he became the manager of the main Sevilla team. He led them to a fifth-place finish in his first season. The team finished third in 2008–09, which meant they could play in the UEFA Champions League.
Jiménez also led Sevilla to the final of the Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) in 2010. They famously beat Pep Guardiola's Barcelona in the earlier rounds. However, he was let go in March 2010 after a series of draws and losses in league games.
Coaching AEK Athens in Greece
Jiménez took over as coach of AEK Athens in Greece in October 2010. His first game was a big 4–0 win. The team finished third in the league that season.
He won his second trophy as a manager in April 2011, when AEK Athens beat Atromitos 3–0 in the Greek Cup final. He left the club later that year.
Jiménez returned to AEK Athens in January 2017. He helped the team qualify for a European competition group stage after six years. At the end of the 2017–18 season, his team won the Greek national championship. This was the first time AEK Athens had won the league in 24 years! He left the club in May 2018 after his contract ended.
He came back to AEK Athens for a third time in February 2019. Then, he returned for a fourth time in December 2020. He left again in May 2021.
Coaching Other Teams
After his first time at AEK Athens, Jiménez became the head coach of Real Zaragoza in Spain in December 2011. The team was relegated to the second division at the end of the 2012–13 season.
In November 2013, Jiménez signed with Al-Rayyan in Qatar. They were relegated in his first season but got promoted back to the top league the next year. His contract ended in May 2015.
After his second time at AEK Athens, Jiménez returned to Spain to manage Las Palmas in May 2018. However, he was dismissed in November of the same year.
In October 2019, he moved to the UAE Pro League to coach Al Wahda. He returned to Al Wahda in October 2022. A year later, he became an advisor at Cerro Porteño in Paraguay. Five months later, he became their head coach. In October 2024, he became the manager of APOEL in Cyprus.
