Manu Katché was born on October 27, 1958, in France. He is a super talented French drummer and songwriter. His family comes from the Ivory Coast. He's famous for playing drums with many big music stars, especially Sting and Peter Gabriel. Manu also creates his own music, which is mostly a cool mix of jazz styles.

Playing with Famous Artists

Manu Katché became well-known in the mid-1980s. He played drums on some really popular albums. These included Peter Gabriel's album So (from 1986) and Sting's albums …Nothing Like the Sun (1987) and The Soul Cages (1991).

Being Part of a Band

From 1985 to 1988, Manu Katché was part of a band called Preface. In this band, he played with guitar player Kamil Rustam and keyboardist Jean-Yves D'Angelo.

His Own Music and TV Work

In 1991, Manu Katché released his very first solo album. It was called It's About Time. This album was mostly pop music. Some famous musicians like Peter Gabriel and Sting even joined him on it!

After that, all of his other solo albums have been jazz music. His album Neighbourhood came out in 2005. It featured talented musicians like Jan Garbarek on saxophone. He released more jazz albums like Playground (2007) and Third Round (2010).

From 2003 to 2007, Manu Katché was a judge on a TV show called Nouvelle Star. This was the French version of the popular Idol TV series. He was known for being a strict judge, especially about rhythm and tempo!

Since 2008, Manu has also hosted his own music show called One Shot Not on the TV channel Arte. In 2010, he even created the music for a theme park in Belgium called Bellewaerde.
