Kamil Rustam is a very talented musician. He is known as a guitarist, composer, and producer. He can play many different styles of music.

Kamil was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He moved to Paris, France, when he was young. In Paris, he worked with many top French pop artists. In 1985, he won an award called "Les Victoires de la Musique". He won for Producer of the Year. He shared this award with his friends Manu Katché and Gabriel Yared. He was also nominated for Best Studio Musician in 1986 and 1987.

In 1996, Kamil moved to Los Angeles, USA. He has worked a lot in the American entertainment industry. In 2021, he joined the band for the French TV show The Voice. He now spends his time between the U.S. and France.

Kamil Rustam started producing music in 1984. His school friend Patrick Bruel asked him to produce his first song. This song, "Marre de cette nana la," sold over a million copies! A producer helps artists make their music sound great. They guide the recording process. Kamil then produced many albums for famous French artists. These included Florent Pagny and Patricia Kaas. He won Best Producer in 1985 for Michel Jonasz's album Unis vers l'uni [fr].

The Band 'Preface'

From 1985 to 1988, Kamil Rustam was a full-time member of the band Preface. The band also included Manu Katché on drums and lead vocals.

His Album: Cosmopolitain

Kamil Rustam released his first album, Cosmopolitain, on October 20, 2017. This album has instrumental songs. Kamil wrote them with keyboardist Arnaud Dunoyer. It also has a new version of the song 'Tempted' by Squeeze. The album mostly sounds like jazz fusion music. But Kamil shows he knows many different music styles.

Many famous musicians helped with the album. These included keyboardist Randy Kerber and drummers Manu Katche and Vinnie Colaiuta. Other soloists like Bob Reynolds on saxophone also played.

Kamil had recorded with the amazing saxophonist Michael Brecker in 1997. The song 'New Amsterdam' on the album was re-recorded. It featured Brecker's soloing, even after he passed away.

The first song, 'Sand Dunes', had a music video released before the album. It gained over 100,000 views by April 2017.
