They made her a knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. This is a special award for people who have done great things in art and literature.

The songs on the album were in French, English, and Hebrew. Critics loved the album. It quickly became a top album in France. Her music style is often described as a mix of folk and jazz. She sings with a soft, slightly husky voice. Her lyrics are often mysterious and thoughtful.

"New Soul" and Global Success

In January 2008, Apple chose Yael's song "New Soul" for their first commercial. It was for the new MacBook Air laptop. Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple, personally picked the song. Because of many digital sales in the U.S., "New Soul" quickly appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It debuted at number 9 on February 16, 2008.

This made "New Soul" Yael Naim's first top ten hit in the United States. She became the first Israeli solo artist to have a top ten song there. The song moved up to number 7 the next week. "New Soul" was also featured in the movies The House Bunny and Wild Target. Yael's third album was released in November 2010. The first song from that album was "Go to the River".
