Charlotte Gonin, born on March 14, 1983, is a talented French singer and songwriter. She is famous by her stage name, Vitaa.

Early Life and Beginnings

Vitaa, whose real name is Charlotte Gonin, was born on March 14, 1983, in Mulhouse, France. She grew up in a town called Lucenay. Her father is French, and her mother is French-Italian.

Vitaa loved music from a young age. She was inspired by French singers like Jacques Brel and Francis Cabrel, as well as soul music from Marvin Gaye. She started singing when she was 11 years old. By the time she was 15, she was already performing small concerts. She left home at 17 to follow her dreams.

After finishing her studies, Vitaa worked in a clothing store for a few years. During this time, she discovered a new passion: writing songs. Later, she moved to Paris to pursue her music career.

Her stage name, Vitaa, comes from her mother and great-grandmother's first name, Vita. This name means "life" in Italian. She then met Akos, who became her official composer, and she recorded her first songs in a professional studio.

Music Career

Vitaa recorded several demo songs early in her career. In 2000, a singer named Dadoo asked her to sing on his songs "Pas à pas" and "Oublie." These songs were played on the radio and helped people start to recognize Vitaa's voice. For a few years, Vitaa worked different jobs to pay her rent while waiting to sign with a music label.

She sang with Dadoo again on his album, and then worked with many other artists. She gained a lot of attention when she sang with Diam's on the popular song "Confessions nocturnes."

Vitaa was the first artist to sign with Motown France, a famous record label. She released her first solo album, A fleur de toi, on February 5, 2007. This album became number one in France! The music video for the main song was filmed in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Vitaa also opened for Rihanna's "Last Girl on Earth" concert in Paris. In 2023, Vitaa released her second solo album called Charlotte, named after her birth name. This album shows her life as a mom and her journey of growing and accepting herself. One song, "Ton amoureuse," is about her and her child. The album came out on October 6, 2023. She also released the video for "Je n’oublie pas" on October 26, 2023. She performed this song at the NRJ Music Awards 25th edition, where she won the award for "Francophone Female Artist of the Year."
