Manuel Arellano facts for kids

Manuel Arellano (born 19 June 1957) is a smart Spanish economist. He specializes in econometrics, which is like using math and statistics to study how money and resources work. He also studies microeconomics, which looks at how individuals and small businesses make choices.

Manuel Arellano is famous for creating a special tool called the Arellano–Bond estimator with his colleague Stephen Bond. This tool helps economists understand large amounts of data, especially when they look at information over time from many different people or companies. It's a very important method used by many researchers. In fact, the paper he wrote about this tool is one of the most referenced articles in economics!

Manuel Arellano's Life and Studies

Manuel Arellano started his university journey at the University of Barcelona in 1979. He earned his first degree there.

Later, in 1982, he moved to London to study at the London School of Economics. He focused on econometrics and mathematical economics. He worked hard and earned his Ph.D. in economics in 1985.

His Career as an Economist

After finishing his studies, Manuel Arellano began teaching and doing research. From 1985 to 1989, he was a research lecturer at the University of Oxford. He also worked as a research fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford during that time.

From 1989 to 1992, he taught economics at the London School of Economics. Since 1991, he has been a professor of Econometrics at CEMFI in Madrid, Spain. He continues to teach and research there today.
