About Manuel Delgado Parker
Early Life and Family
Manuel Delgado Parker was born in Lima, Peru. He was the fifth child of Genaro Delgado Brandt, who was also a Peruvian businessman, and Rachel Parker Murguía.
In 1960, Manuel married Frieda Nachtigall Valderrama. They had six children together: Frida, Ursula, Manuel, Claudia, Hugo, and Natalia.
Building a Media Empire
Manuel started working at Radio Panamericana in the 1950s. His father had founded this radio station. Manuel helped manage the station.
Later, he created his own radio station, Radio Programas del Perú (RPP). This station broadcasted across the whole country. It was known for its radio dramas, helpful services, and advice programs.
From 1968 to 1971, Manuel managed Panamericana Televisión. However, the military government took control of media companies during that time. Manuel then lived in different places like Buenos Aires, Puerto Rico, and Los Angeles, California.
Manuel returned to the US in 1979 and took charge of RPP again. He started the "Information Center" at RPP. This helped the station share news widely and reach many more people. Even today, RPP is known for its news coverage.
In 1990, Manuel helped create the Society of Latin America Broadcasting. This group included major radio networks from countries like Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, and Argentina.
Manuel also led Panamericana Televisión again in the 1990s. He was the main owner of this TV channel for a long time. Later, he sold his shares to focus on building RPP Group. He managed this company, which became a very successful media group.
Additionally, Manuel and his brother, Hector Delgado Parker, started an international Peruvian TV network called Sur Perú in the US. This network was created for Peruvians living in that country.
