Manuelito is a small community located in McKinley County, New Mexico, United States. It is part of the Navajo Nation. Manuelito is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the government counts for population statistics, even though it's not an officially incorporated town. It was first recognized as a CDP before the 2020 census.
Where is Manuelito?
Manuelito is found in the western part of McKinley County. It sits in the valley of the Puerco River. The community is about 16 miles (26 km) southwest of Gallup. Gallup is the main town and county seat for McKinley County. Manuelito is also very close to the Arizona border, about 3 miles (5 km) to the east.
Roads and Travel
Two important roads pass through Manuelito. One is New Mexico State Road 118. This road is also part of the famous Historic Route 66. The other major road is Interstate 40. If you are traveling on Interstate 40, the closest exit to Manuelito is Exit 8 (NM 118). This exit is about 3 miles (5 km) northeast of the community.
