Marcus Chorney's Hockey Journey
Starting in College Hockey
Marcus Chorney was born in Fort William, which is now part of Thunder Bay, Ontario. He played college hockey for four successful seasons at the University of North Dakota.
He was recognized as a top player during his college years. In 1980, he was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team. The next year, in 1981, he was chosen for two different All-Star teams.
Playing in the NHL
Marcus began his professional hockey career with the Pittsburgh Penguins. They picked him in the sixth round of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. This is like a special lottery where teams choose new players.
Later, Marcus was traded to the Los Angeles Kings. After playing one season with the Kings, he joined the Washington Capitals. However, he did not play any games for the Capitals. His professional career ended in 1985.
Marcus Chorney's Family Life
Marcus Chorney has two sons who also play hockey. His son, Taylor Chorney, is also a defenceman. Taylor played in 166 games in the NHL. He last played for a team in Austria.
