Playing Hockey
Marcus Chorney was born in Fort William, Ontario, Canada. This city is now known as Thunder Bay. He played college hockey for four successful seasons. He played for the University of North Dakota team.
In 1979, the Pittsburgh Penguins picked him in the NHL Draft. This is when professional teams choose young players. He started playing for the Penguins in the NHL. Later, he was traded to the Los Angeles Kings. After playing one season with the Kings, he tried out for the Washington Capitals. However, he did not make their team.
Family Life
Marcus Chorney has two sons who also play hockey. His son, Taylor Chorney, is also a defenceman. Taylor played in 166 games in the NHL. He last played for a team in Austria. Marcus's other son, Marcus Chorney, Jr., plays college hockey. He plays for the Quinnipiac University Bobcats.
