Marcus Henry's Football Journey

Playing for the New York Jets

The New York Jets picked Marcus Henry in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL draft. He was the 171st player chosen overall. The Jets were interested in Henry because of his height, even though he was still developing his skills.

Henry signed his first professional contract with the Jets on June 6, 2008. He made it onto the team's main roster, but he didn't play in the first two games. Soon after, he was moved to the team's practice squad, where he stayed for the rest of the season.

In 2009, Henry signed another contract with the Jets. During team practices, a backup quarterback named Erik Ainge said good things about Henry. Ainge mentioned that Henry helped other receivers learn how to use their strengths. Despite this praise, Henry was released from the team again on September 5, 2009. Two days later, he rejoined the practice squad for the season. The Jets released Henry again in August 2010.

Time with the Carolina Panthers

On September 23, 2010, Marcus Henry joined the practice squad of the Carolina Panthers.

Adventures in the CFL: Edmonton Eskimos

Henry signed a contract with the Edmonton Eskimos in the Canadian Football League (CFL) on April 5, 2011. He got injured during the 2011 CFL season and played in only 11 games. In his first year in the CFL, he gained 384 yards and scored 1 touchdown.

In 2012, Henry missed the first half of the season because of a knee injury he got during training camp. He returned to play in 9 games for the Eskimos in the second half of the season. He had a similar year, gaining 382 yards and scoring 1 touchdown. After the 2012 CFL season, he became a free agent, meaning he could sign with any team. However, on May 1, 2013, Henry signed with the Eskimos again. He played in 12 games during the 2013 season, catching 34 passes for 535 yards and 1 touchdown.

Playing for the Ottawa RedBlacks

Before the 2014 CFL season, Henry signed with the new team, the Ottawa RedBlacks. He became a key player for the RedBlacks, leading their receivers in catches and yards. He had his best season, gaining 824 yards on 67 catches.

After the 2014 season, the RedBlacks signed many new receivers. This made it harder for Henry to keep his spot on the team. He played in only one game during the 2015 season because of an injury. He was not re-signed by the RedBlacks and became a free agent on February 9, 2016. Henry later tried out for the Edmonton Eskimos again in April.

Joining the Montreal Alouettes

Henry was signed to the practice roster of the Montreal Alouettes. He made his first start for them on October 22, 2016, in a game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. In that game, he scored a touchdown.
