Marengo is a small town in Liberty Township, Crawford County, Indiana, United States. In 2020, about 829 people lived there. One of its most famous spots is Marengo Cave, which is a special U.S. National Landmark. It helps bring visitors and money to the town.

Marengo's History
Early Days of Marengo
Marengo was first known as Big Springs. The town was officially planned out in 1839 under this original name.
How Marengo Got Its Name
The name Marengo was chosen to remember a famous battle called the Battle of Marengo.
A Big Storm in 2004
In 2004, a very strong F3 tornado hit Marengo. This powerful storm damaged almost 75 percent of the town. Sadly, one person also lost their life.
School Changes in Marengo
Marengo used to have its own high school, Marengo High School. Later, schools in the area joined together to form Crawford County High School.
