Marenisco is a small community in Michigan, United States. It's located in Gogebic County, within Marenisco Township. It is known as an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP).
In 2010, the CDP had about 254 people living there. The entire township had a population of 1,727. The name "Marenisco" comes from the first three letters of Mary Enid Scott. She was the wife of E. H. Scott, who worked in the timber industry.
Where is Marenisco?
Marenisco is in the western part of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It's in the western area of Marenisco Township.
U.S. Route 2 runs along the northern edge of the community. This road goes east about 27 miles to Watersmeet. It also goes west about 13 miles to Wakefield. Ironwood, Michigan, which is near the Wisconsin state line, is about 26 miles west on US 2.
State highway M-64 goes through the middle of Marenisco. It leads south about 9 miles to the Wisconsin border.

Marenisco was first listed as a census-designated place (CDP) for the 2010 census. This means it now has official borders and population numbers.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the Marenisco CDP covers an area of about 8.9 square kilometers (3.45 square miles). All of this area is land. The Presque Isle River forms the eastern border of the community. This river flows into Lake Superior in the northeastern part of Gogebic County.
