Marin Raykov Nikolov (born December 17, 1960) is a Bulgarian politician and diplomat. A diplomat is someone who represents their country in other nations. He was chosen to be a temporary Prime Minister of Bulgaria and Minister of Foreign Affairs on March 12, 2013.
He was appointed by the Bulgarian president, Rosen Plevneliev. Raykov served in these roles until May 29, 2013. His father, Rayko Nikolov, was also a diplomat.

Marin Raykov's Career
Marin Raykov has had an interesting career in government. He has worked in different important roles for Bulgaria. These roles often involved working with other countries.
Early Diplomatic Roles
Before becoming Prime Minister, Raykov served as a deputy Foreign Minister. This means he was a high-ranking official helping the main Foreign Minister. He held this position in two different governments. The first was under Ivan Kostov from 1998 to 2001. The second was under Boyko Borisov from 2009 to 2010.
Ambassador to France
From 2010 to 2013, Marin Raykov served as Bulgaria's Ambassador to France. An ambassador is the highest-ranking diplomat representing their country in another. This was a very important job, helping to build good relationships between Bulgaria and France.

Becoming Caretaker Prime Minister
In March 2013, Marin Raykov was appointed as a "caretaker" Prime Minister. A caretaker government is a temporary government. It is set up to manage the country until a new, permanent government can be formed. This usually happens after elections or when a government resigns. Raykov also served as his own Minister of Foreign Affairs during this time. He left office in May 2013.
