Early Days in Hockey

Mario Doyon was born in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. When he was a young boy, he loved playing hockey. He even took part in the big Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament in both 1980 and 1981. He played with a team from Charlesbourg, Quebec City. These tournaments are a huge deal for young hockey players!

As he grew older, Mario continued to play. He joined the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). This league is where many future NHL stars play before they become professionals. Mario showed great skill as a defenceman during his time there.

Playing Professional Hockey

Mario Doyon was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in 1986. This meant they chose him to potentially play for their team in the NHL. He made his NHL debut with the Blackhawks in the 1988–89 season. He played 7 games for them, scoring 1 goal and 1 assist.

Later, he also played for the Quebec Nordiques in the NHL. Between 1989 and 1991, he played 21 games for the Nordiques. In total, Mario played 28 games in the NHL, scoring 3 goals and 4 assists.
