Marisa Pavan was a talented Italian actress. She was born Maria Luisa Pierangeli on June 19, 1932, and passed away on December 6, 2023. Many people first knew her as the twin sister of famous movie star Pier Angeli. Marisa Pavan became very successful in her own acting career. She was even nominated for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe Award for her role in the 1955 movie The Rose Tattoo.

Marisa Pavan's Early Life and Acting Career

Marisa Pavan and her twin sister, Pier Angeli, were born in 1932. Their birthplace was Cagliari, a city on the island of Sardinia in Italy. Their father, Luigi Pierangeli, was an engineer. They also had a younger sister, Patrizia, who also became an actress.

Marisa Pavan did not have acting lessons when she signed a contract with Paramount in Hollywood. She was only 19 years old. Her first movie was What Price Glory in 1952.

Her Big Break in The Rose Tattoo

Marisa's most important role came three years later. She was chosen to play the daughter of actress Anna Magnani in The Rose Tattoo. This part was first meant for her twin sister, Pier Angeli. However, Pier Angeli was not available when filming started.

Marisa's acting in this movie was highly praised. She was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. She also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance.

Later in her career, she was in films like A Slightly Pregnant Man (1973) and Antoine and Sebastian (1974). She also appeared in the TV miniseries The Moneychangers (1976). In 1985, she played Chantal Dubujak on the TV show Ryan's Hope.

Personal Life and Passing

On March 27, 1956, Marisa Pavan married French actor Jean-Pierre Aumont. They got married in Santa Barbara, California. They stayed together until Jean-Pierre passed away in 2001. They had two sons together. Their son Jean-Claude was born in 1957, and Patrick was born in 1960.

Marisa Pavan passed away on December 6, 2023. She was 91 years old. She died at her home in Saint-Tropez, France.
