Mariusz Wach (born December 14, 1979) is a professional boxer from Poland. He is known for being a very tall and strong heavyweight boxer. In 2012, he fought for the world heavyweight boxing titles against the famous Wladimir Klitschko.

Mariusz Wach was born in Kraków, Poland, on December 14, 1979. When he grew up, he moved to North Bergen, New Jersey, in the United States.
Mariusz Wach's Amateur Boxing Career
Mariusz Wach started boxing in 1990. He had a long amateur career with 90 fights. He often represented his home country, Poland, in many boxing tournaments.
He won some great awards during this time. He earned two gold medals and one bronze medal in the Polish Championships. He also won a silver medal in the 2004 European Union Championships. Mariusz Wach was even an alternate for Poland in the 2004 Summer Olympics.
Mariusz Wach's Professional Boxing Journey
Starting as a Pro Boxer
Mariusz Wach became a professional boxer in April 2005. His first pro fight was in Poland, where he won by knockout in the first round. In January 2006, he had his first fight in America. He won that fight by decision.
That year, Wach won seven fights. Five of these wins were in America. He even won the Polish International heavyweight title. He knocked out Arthur Cook in the ninth round to win this title. A few months later, he won another boxing belt. In 2009, he defended his World Champion title in Poland. Mariusz also helped train other famous boxers.
In 2010, Mariusz Wach came back to boxing after an injury. He showed how strong he was by knocking out Christian Hammer in Germany.
Moving to the United States
In September 2010, Mariusz Wach was invited to move to the United States. He trained at a gym in North Bergen, New Jersey. He worked with Michael Moorer, a former heavyweight champion. This training helped him prepare for his next fight.
In February 2011, Mariusz Wach fought Jonathan Haggler. He won by knockout in the third round. This win earned him the WBC Baltic heavyweight title. After this, he signed agreements with two boxing promoters.
Big Fights and Titles
Mariusz Wach faced a big challenge in July 2011. He fought Kevin McBride, who had ended Mike Tyson's boxing career. Wach was faster and sharper in this fight. He knocked McBride out in the fourth round. This victory earned him the WBC International heavyweight title.

Wach vs. Klitschko: The Big Fight
Talk about Mariusz Wach fighting for the world heavyweight title started in 2011. The team of unified world champion Wladimir Klitschko showed interest. In August 2012, serious talks began for the fight. They agreed to fight on November 10 in Hamburg, Germany.
Mariusz Wach was the fourth Polish boxer to try and win the world heavyweight title. He was very tall, even taller than Klitschko. He also had a longer reach. Many people in Poland watched the fight on TV.
On fight night, Mariusz Wach lost to Wladimir Klitschko. The judges decided that Klitschko won the fight. Klitschko landed more punches throughout the match. Wach did manage to shake Klitschko in the fifth round. He also showed how tough he was by taking many strong punches.

Mariusz Wach's next fight was against Kevin Johnson. This fight happened without any fans watching because of special rules. Wach won this fight by the judges' decision.
Wach vs. Fury
After that, Wach fought Hughie Fury, another boxer who had challenged for a world title. Mariusz Wach caused a cut on Fury in the fourth round. He tried to hit that cut area for the rest of the fight. However, Fury fought back well. Fury outboxed Wach and won the fight by the judges' decision.
Wach vs. Itauma
