Mark Ian Addy is an English actor. He is famous for his roles in many TV shows and movies. You might know him as King Robert Baratheon from the first season of Game of Thrones. He also played Hercules in the TV series Atlantis.

On the big screen, Mark Addy starred as Dave Horsefall in the movie The Full Monty. This role earned him a nomination for a BAFTA Award. He also played Fred Flintstone in The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas and Friar Tuck in Robin Hood. In 2023, he returned to his Full Monty role for a new TV series.

Early Life and Training

Mark Addy was born in York, England. His family has lived there for a long time. His father, Ian, worked as a glazier at York Minster, which is a very old and famous church.

Mark went to Joseph Rowntree School. After that, he studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art from 1982 to 1984. This is a well-known school for actors.

Mark Addy's Acting Career

Mark Addy started his acting journey on television in 1987. His first show was The Ritz. He then appeared in many other TV series. These included Heartbeat and Band of Gold.
