The Story of Jack Frost
Jack Frost is the lead singer of a rock band called "The Jack Frost Band." They play music in Medford, Colorado. Jack often plays blues songs and their own music. He hopes to get a record deal.
Jack has an 11-year-old son named Charlie. One day, Charlie comes home after a snowball fight. Jack and Charlie build a snowman in their yard. Jack gives Charlie his special harmonica. He tells Charlie it is magical. He says Charlie will hear it wherever Jack is.
Jack promises his wife, Gabby, that he will go to Charlie's hockey game. But he misses it to record a song. To make up for it, Jack promises a Christmas trip to the mountains. Then, he gets a call for a big music gig. This gig could help his career a lot.
On his way to the gig, Jack changes his mind. He borrows his friend Mac's car. Mac is the band's keyboard player. Jack wants to go to the mountains to meet his family. But he drives into a bad snowstorm. The car's wipers do not work well. Jack crashes his car and dies.
Jack Returns as a Snowman
A year later, Charlie is very sad. He misses his dad and stays away from his friends. One night, Charlie builds another snowman. He tries to make it look like his dad. Before sleeping, he plays Jack's harmonica. It turns out the harmonica is magical! Jack's spirit wakes up inside the snowman.
Jack is happy to be alive again. He tries to talk to Charlie, but Charlie is scared. The next day, Charlie finds Jack in the yard. He tries to run away. Charlie ends up in the snowball fight area. Jack, as the snowman, throws snowballs at the bullies. He helps Charlie escape on a sled.
After they get away, Charlie realizes the snowman is his dad. Jack calls him "Charlie boy," his special nickname. Jack and Charlie spend time together. Jack teaches Charlie things he could not teach him before. Jack helps Charlie rejoin his hockey team. Charlie becomes the best player. Meanwhile, Mac, Jack's friend, becomes like a father figure to Charlie. Gabby, Charlie's mom, suggested it.
Saying Goodbye
As winter ends, Jack starts to melt. He tries hard to get to Charlie's hockey game. After the game, Charlie decides to take Jack to the mountains. It is colder there, so Jack will not melt. Charlie has trouble convincing Gabby.
Charlie meets Rory, the bully from before. Rory insults the snowman. Jack speaks to Rory and corrects him. Rory then feels bad for Charlie. He helps Charlie sneak Jack onto a truck going to the mountains.
Jack and Charlie arrive at a quiet cabin. This was the cabin where their family planned to stay. Jack calls Gabby. He asks her to come pick up Charlie. Gabby is shocked but knows it is Jack's voice. She agrees to come.
Jack tells Charlie he has to leave. When Gabby arrives, the snowman melts away. Jack appears as a glowing spirit. He tells Charlie he will always be with him. Jack says goodbye to Gabby and Charlie. Then, he goes to the afterlife.
At the end of the movie, Charlie plays hockey with his friends, including Rory. Gabby watches happily. Mac plays music on the piano. Many houses on the street have snowmen in their yards.
