Mika Sue Boorem (born August 18, 1987) is an American actress. She started acting when she was a child. Mika appeared in TV shows like Touched by an Angel and Ally McBeal. She gained praise for her role in The Education of Little Tree (1997).
After acting in Jack Frost and Mighty Joe Young (both 1998), Mika had a main role. This was in the movie Hearts in Atlantis (2001). She starred alongside Anton Yelchin and Anthony Hopkins. This role also earned her good reviews.
Mika Boorem also had important supporting roles. These included the war movie The Patriot (2000). She was also in the thriller Along Came a Spider (2001). In the early 2000s, she appeared in many teen films. These were Blue Crush (2002), Sleepover (2004), and Augusta, Gone (2006). Early Life and Beginnings
Mika Boorem was born on August 18, 1987, in Tucson, Arizona. Her parents are Holly and Benjamin Boorem. She has an older brother named Benjamin Jr. Her father works with gemstones.
Mika started acting in local plays in Arizona. Later, her family moved to Los Angeles. There, she went to a French-English school called Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles.
Starting as a Child Actress
In 1995, Mika appeared in a video called Beach Party at Walt Disney World. Her first TV role was in 1996 on Touched by an Angel. After that, she had a supporting part in The Education of Little Tree (1997). Critics liked her performance as a young friend in the movie. She was nominated for a Young Artist Award for this role.
In the same year, Mika played a young Ally McBeal in the pilot episode of Ally McBeal. She also appeared in A Walton Easter, a TV movie from The Waltons. In 1998, she had a supporting role in the Christmas movie Jack Frost. Michael Keaton starred in this film. Mika was nominated for a YoungStar Award for her acting.
She then played a young version of Charlize Theron's character in Disney's Mighty Joe Young (1998). Mika also joined the main cast of the comedy series The Tom Show (1997-1998). The next year, Mika starred in The Initiation of Sarah. This was a TV movie remake of a 1978 horror film. She also starred in the TV drama Augusta, Gone. In this film, she played a teenager facing challenges. Critics praised her performance in Augusta, Gone. In 2007, she was a guest star on the medical drama House. She played a teenager who could not feel pain.

Directing and Other Projects
In 2012, Mika Boorem appeared with Kelly Lynch in the thriller Dark Desire. Mika was also in the 2013 short film Awake. This film was later part of the 2016 horror collection Minutes Past Midnight.
In 2015, Mika directed the short film Love Thy Neighbor. She won a Best Director award for it at a film festival in New Jersey. She directed her first full-length movie, Hollywood.Con, in 2021. This action-adventure comedy was filmed in Guatemala. It starred Tom Arnold, Paige Howard, Devin Ratray, Brian Krause, and Cody Kasch. Mika also acted in the movie herself.
Mika's father, Benjamin Boorem, co-wrote and produced Hollywood.Con. The idea for the movie came partly from a trip they took to buy jade. In April 2019, Mika visited Arkansas Arts Academy High School. She gave a workshop about the film industry. Students from the academy helped film the premiere of Hollywood.Con on May 4, 2019. This event took place in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
