A reviewer from Rolling Stone magazine, Peter Travers, said that Bosworth was "a star in the making." The movie got good reviews and earned a lot of money at the box office. After Blue Crush, Kate took on the main role in the film Wonderland (2003) alongside Val Kilmer.
In 2004, she played the main character in the romantic comedy Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!, with Topher Grace. Later that year, she played actress Sandra Dee in Beyond the Sea.
