Marquis Brown, born on May 19, 1980, is a former American football player. He was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). Brown played for the New York Jets for three seasons. Before joining the NFL, he played college football at Auburn University. He signed with the Jets in 2003 after not being chosen in the main draft.

Early Life and College Football
Marquis went to Germantown High School in Germantown, Tennessee.
He played college football for the Auburn Tigers from 1998 to 2002. In 1998, he was redshirted. This means he practiced with the team but did not play in games. It helped him get ready for future seasons. In 2002, he was recognized as one of the best players in his college conference. He was even invited to play in the Senior Bowl, a special game for top college players.
Professional Football Career
Playing for the New York Jets
Marquis Brown joined the New York Jets on May 2, 2003. He was not picked during the main NFL draft that year. He was later put on the team's practice squad. This is a group of players who train with the team but do not play in regular games. Brown was moved to the main team roster in December 2003. He played in one game that season.
In 2004, Brown played in 12 games for the Jets, starting six of them. He made nine solo tackles and six assisted tackles. He also caused one fumble and broke up one pass.
In 2005, he played in 15 games and started 11. He had 38 solo tackles and 39 assisted tackles. Brown also made 1.5 sacks and recovered one fumble. He broke up two passes and made two interceptions. One of his interceptions was even returned for a touchdown!
Time with the Arizona Cardinals
Brown signed with the Arizona Cardinals on May 5, 2006. He was with the team for a short time before being released on September 2, 2006.
