Mark Alexander Fraser (born September 29, 1986) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He was a defenceman, which means he played a key role in protecting his team's net. Mark played for several teams in the National Hockey League (NHL), including the New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Edmonton Oilers.

Mark Fraser's Hockey Journey
Starting in Junior Hockey
Mark Fraser began his hockey career playing junior hockey with the Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He played there from 2004 to 2006. In his second season, his hard work helped him become the team's captain.
Joining the NHL
In 2005, the New Jersey Devils picked Mark in the NHL Entry Draft. He was the 84th player chosen overall. After his junior career, he started playing professionally. He joined the Albany River Rats in the American Hockey League (AHL) for a few games in 2006.
Mark played his first full professional season in 2006–07 with the Lowell Devils. He also played seven games for the New Jersey Devils that same year. He stayed with the Lowell Devils until the 2009–10 season. That's when he earned a spot on the New Jersey Devils' main roster.
First NHL Goal and Trades
Mark scored his very first NHL goal on October 24, 2009. He scored against Marc-André Fleury of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Later, in December 2011, Mark was traded to the Anaheim Ducks. Then, in February 2012, he was traded again, this time to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
In July 2013, Mark signed a new one-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, during the 2013–14 season, he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in January 2014.
Returning to the Devils and Other Teams
After playing for the Oilers, Mark returned to the New Jersey Devils organization. He signed a contract with their AHL team, the Albany Devils, in November 2014. He later signed an NHL contract with the Devils and played for them again in January 2015.
After his time with the Devils, Mark became a free agent. He later signed a contract with the Ottawa Senators in September 2015. He played for their AHL team, the Binghamton Senators, for one year.
In July 2016, Mark returned to the Edmonton Oilers on another one-year contract.
Playing Overseas
As his career continued, Mark decided to play hockey in other countries. In November 2017, he joined HC TPS in Finland. After that, he played in Slovakia for HKm Zvolen. Finally, in May 2019, he signed a one-year contract to play for the Schwenninger Wild Wings in Germany. He finished his playing career in 2020.
Personal Life and Post-Hockey Career
Mark Fraser is the son of Hugh Fraser, who was a former sprinter and is now a judge. Mark's mother, Ann Kennedy, was a retired teacher.
After he stopped playing hockey, Mark was hired by the Toronto Maple Leafs in February 2021. He now works with their Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion team, focusing on player development.
