Mark Anthony Wade, born on October 15, 1965, is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He was a talented point guard, standing about 5 feet 11 inches tall. Wade is especially known for his amazing college basketball career.
A Star Point Guard
Wade played college basketball for the UNLV Runnin' Rebels. During the 1986–87 season, he set a huge record for the NCAA. He made 406 assists in just 38 games. This was a record for the most assists in a single season.
His skills earned him a spot on the First-team All-PCAA in 1987. This showed he was one of the best players in his college conference.
Playing in the NBA
After college, Mark Wade played in the NBA. He spent the 1987–88 season with the Golden State Warriors. He also played one game for the Dallas Mavericks during the 1989–90 season.
Besides the NBA, Wade played for many teams in other professional leagues. He played for the Pensacola Tornados and the Quad City Thunder. He was also a three-time assists leader in the CBA. In 1990, he was named to the All-CBA First Team.
Life After Playing
After his playing career, Mark Wade became a basketball coach. He worked as an assistant coach for several college teams. These included St. Bonaventure Bonnies, Long Island University-Southampton, and Florida Atlantic University. He also coached at Cheyenne High School.
Wade even had a role as a player-assistant coach. This was with the International Basketball League's Las Vegas Silver Bandits.
