Marthe Keller (born January 28, 1945) is a talented Swiss actress and opera director. She is well-known for her role in the movie Marathon Man (1976), which earned her a nomination for a Golden Globe Award.

Her Acting Journey
Starting Out
When Marthe Keller was a child, she loved to study ballet. However, a skiing accident at age 16 meant she had to stop. She then decided to try acting instead. She worked in famous theaters in Berlin, like the Schiller Theater and the Berliner Ensemble.
Movies She Starred In
Marthe Keller first appeared in films in the mid-1960s. She was in a German film called Wilder Reiter GmbH (1967). In the 1970s, she acted in many French movies, including Un Cave (1971) and Toute Une Vie/And Now My Love (1974).
Her most famous American movies include Marathon Man (1976), where she played Dustin Hoffman's girlfriend. She was also in Black Sunday (1977), a thrilling spy movie. Marthe Keller also acted with Al Pacino in the romantic drama Bobby Deerfield (1977) and with William Holden in Fedora (1978).
After 1978, Marthe Keller worked more in European movies. One of her later films was Dark Eyes (1987), where she acted alongside Marcello Mastroianni. In 2016, she was chosen to be the head of the jury for a special section at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.
On Stage
In 2001, Marthe Keller performed on Broadway in a play called Judgment at Nuremberg. She played the role of Mrs. Bertholt. For her performance, she was nominated for a Tony Award, which is a very important award for theater actors.
Directing Operas
Besides acting, Marthe Keller has also become a successful opera director. She has performed as a speaker in classical music pieces, like playing Joan of Arc in the oratorio Jeanne d'Arc au bûcher.
Her first time directing an opera was Dialogues des Carmélites in 1999. She has also directed operas like Lucia di Lammermoor in Washington and Los Angeles. In 2004, she directed Don Giovanni at the famous Metropolitan Opera in New York City.
