Marthe Keller (born on January 28, 1945) is a famous Swiss actress. She is well-known for her role in the movie Marathon Man (1976). For this role, she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award.

Marthe Keller's Career

Early Life and Acting Start

When Marthe Keller was a child, she studied ballet. However, she had a skiing accident at age 16 and had to stop. After that, she decided to become an actress. She began working in theaters in Berlin, like the Schiller Theater and the Berliner Ensemble.

Film Roles

Marthe Keller's first movie appearances were in Funeral in Berlin (1966) and a German film called Wilder Reiter GmbH (1967). In the 1970s, she acted in many French movies.

Her most famous American films include Marathon Man (1976). In this movie, she played the girlfriend of Dustin Hoffman and earned a Golden Globe nomination. She also starred in Black Sunday (1977). In this film, she played a character who leads an attack on the Super Bowl.

Keller also acted with Al Pacino in the romantic drama Bobby Deerfield (1977). She later worked with William Holden in Billy Wilder's movie Fedora (1978). After 1978, Marthe Keller mostly worked in European films. One of her later films was Dark Eyes (1987), where she acted with Marcello Mastroianni.

In April 2016, she was chosen to be the head of the jury for the Un Certain Regard section at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. This is a very important film festival.
