Martin is a city located in Weakley County, Tennessee, United States. In 2020, about 10,825 people lived here. Martin is also home to the University of Tennessee at Martin, a well-known university.

History of Martin
Martin is named after Captain William Martin. He was born in Virginia in 1806. In 1832, he moved to Weakley County, Tennessee, with his wife, Sarah.
Captain Martin became successful by farming tobacco. He started working to bring a railroad to the area in 1852. Sadly, he passed away in 1859. After his death, his sons, especially George W. Martin, continued his work. They convinced the Mississippi Central Railroad to connect with the Nashville and Northwestern Railroad. This important connection was made in 1872, and that's how the city of Martin began.

Martin is located at coordinates 36°20′31″N 88°51′6″W / 36.34194°N 88.85167°W.
The city covers a total area of about 12.4 square miles (32.24 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. Only a small part, about 0.04 square miles (0.11 square kilometers), is water.
