History of Martinsville
Martinsville was officially planned and laid out in 1816. This means it was designed before buildings were constructed. By 1833, the village had grown to have about 75 residents. Martinsville has been a part of Ohio's history for over 200 years.
Geography and Location
Martinsville is situated along State Route 28. This road helps connect the village to other nearby towns. To the west, you can find New Vienna, and to the east is Midland.
State Route 28 also crosses State Route 134 just east of Martinsville. This connection makes it easier to reach Wilmington, which is a few miles north. The village covers a total area of about 0.44 square miles (0.96 square kilometers), and all of it is land.
