María Brito (born María Cristina Brito in 1947) is a talented Cuban-American artist. She was born in Havana, Cuba. María Brito is known for her amazing work in painting, sculpture, and art installations. An installation is a type of art that uses a space or room to create an experience.

Early Life and Education
María Brito came to the United States when she was young. She was part of a large move called Operation Peter Pan. This was a program that helped many Cuban children come to the U.S. Her parents joined her in 1962.
María loved art and studied it in college. She earned her first art degree in 1978. This was from Florida International University (FIU). The next year, in 1979, she earned her Master of Fine Arts degree. She got this from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.
